About us

Rooted in our cultures. Growing through land, food, and community.

Culture Roots Collective is a global majority-led initiative uniting Black, Brown, Asian, and People of Colour working across food, farming, and land stewardship in the UK.

Founded in 2025, our Collective exists to encourage racialised communities to reclaim our ancestral relationships with the land, revitalise embodied knowledge within our agricultural practices, and cultivate equitable food systems for our communities.

As the inheritors of cultural legacies that touch every continent, we know that our histories are deeply tied to the soil — from nourishment and healing to resistance and survival. We are committed to honouring these legacies while forging relational pathways toward food sovereignty, transcultural solidarity, community empowerment, and land justice.

We strive to celebrate the strength of our diverse roots, cherish the resilience of our ancestral land stories, and amplify our collective power for a just and nourishing future for all.

Our Mission

To disrupt the status quo in food, farming, and land stewardship by centering the voices, lived experiences, and leadership of those facing ethnic and racial marginalisation in the UK. We aim to address the lack of support and resources for people of the global majority within our sectors by creating opportunities for visibility, networking, and collaboration.

What We Do

Our Collective strives to build professional connections, communal resilience, and intercultural solidarity that honour both ancestral wisdom and contemporary voices.

We accomplish this by…

  • Gathering a directory of global majority individuals, BPOC-led organisations, and allied institutions working across food, farming, and land stewardship in the UK

  • Curating a resource library filled with useful articles, reports, research, and anti-racism toolkits

  • Hosting and promoting professional and social events, workshops, webinars, and training opportunities

  • Sharing our own voices, stories, and opinions through original blog content and videos

For the purpose of…

  • Increasing the visibility and representation of global majority workers and BPOC-led projects operating in our sector

  • Amplifying the voices, perspectives, lived experiences, and ways of thinking of racially and ethnically minoritised communities

  • Building a supportive network of BPOC growers, educators, land workers, facilitators, researchers and activists

  • Centering and uplifting our diverse cultural histories, traditions, and modes of storytelling

  • Creating intentional spaces for intercultural exchange, learning, upskilling and knowledge sharing

  • Advocating for equitable access to land, financial and educational resources, and organisational decision-making for all
