Despite the crucial link between halting climate change and achieving a fairer, more just and equitable world, the environmental sector in the UK is still not representative of the British population. The 2023 Race Report indicates that only 6% of people working in the environmental sector are People of Colour or from a minority ethnic group, this is compared to 15% of the UK population 16-64 in employment.

The climate crisis also disproportionately affects People of Colour, and environmental racism is a big factor in this. At Possible, our vision is a zero carbon society, built by and for the people of the UK, therefore it is essential that the whole spectrum of the British public is represented in our organisation…
