"We can't solve the problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them." - Albert Einstein

As a food-systems activist and documentary filmmaker, Bumjoo believes in food’s potential to solve today's ecological, social and public health crises; it shapes our culture, builds our communities and nourishes our bodies – it connects us all. Yet it also holds the power to harm, contributing to biodiversity loss, greenhouse gas emissions, forced migration, and millions of deaths each year from non-communicable diseases.
She co-leads the Food Project within the London Doughnut Economy Coalition. In 2019, she transitioned from a 20-year career in global hospitality and real estate investment. Bumjoo holds a Master's degree from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration and a BA from Seoul National University.
